Kobe's Repsonse

This is getting out of hand. After a buzzer beater by LeBron, Kobe responded by taking out the Nuggets with his late game heroics. Is this a sign? Will Kobe and LeBron go at each other for the right to hoist the Larry O'Brien trophy? There is nothing more to say. The NBA playoffs out do the NHL playoffs hands down.

Next Shaq

Throw it down big man, throw it down.

Remember when Shaq took down the entire backboard or shattered the glass with his monster dunks? The days of Shaw dominating down low and just being a nasty centre to guard, we have a new big superman, his name Dwight Howard.

Around the league and through the world of basketball people know him as the big dude who won the slam dunk competition two years ago. I am starting to think he is much more than just that. He is the new Shaq.

The way Shaq dominated down low when he was a member of the Magic is almost parallel to what Howard is doing right now. What changed everything for Shaq was the moment he found a guy to run with him, Kobe. If the Magic can find a way to throw a second legitimate running mate, preferably a guard, the NBA will see another duo dominate the league.

Everyday the news is about LeBron and how he is the next king of the NBA and how he is going to take ring after ring but no one has really mentioned Howard. This centre is legit and if a team, any team, is willing to sign a big time running mate for Dwight, fans around the world will be witness to a dynasty. Okay, I shouldn't use the word dynasty but just thinking about bringing in a Kobe type of player (yes, this is easier said than done) you could see the Magic start hanging banner after banner.

Having a big man down low that will scare opponents when they approach the lane and basically impose his will on the offensive end is half of a successful formula. The other half is, well, playing in the 2009 Western Conference final and had 20 cameras follow him around by a guy from Brooklyn.

Just wondering if the Magic's front office is thinking like me.

Where on earth does this guy get his swing from? He's rich and money gives you access to some golf instructors that aren't available to normal golfers. Guy has a decent practice swing and then he goes into his normal self.

Start of Something?

Roger Federer has finally defeated Nadal on clay. He's done it before but it just seems like a decade ago Federer was dominating the tennis circuit and hoisting a new trophy every other week.

The Swiss star won the Madrid Open by posting a 6-4, 6-4 score over rival Nadal. I've been reading this was a stunning victory and it seemed out of the blue that Federer ended up the winning side. Am I wrong but isn't Roger still ranked ummmm, like 2nd in the world?! I guess people are really starting to write off Federer since there are so many young guns out there (Nadal, Murray, and Djokovic). Why are you going to write off a guy who still finds a way to get himself to the finals but ends up taking home a runner-up cheque. Yes, he's being defeated by Nadal in the finals but this isn't a number 1 seed playing a number 319 in the world. This is 1 versus 2.

Why is Hilary Swank giving out keys?

I am a little disappointed in the writers around the internet, I'm looking straight at you ESPN.com and Yahoo!. These writers seem to think a few bad tournaments and a couple of finals losses is the end of Roger. I understand Federer is not going to dominate the circuit like he once did but I still believe Federer has 1-3 more majors in him before his career is finished.

His ability to take control on grass and also on hard courts, which make up 75% of the majors, gives him a great chance to take over Pistol Pete's position at the top.

For all you haters out there, he's still ranked #2 in the world so show him some respect. Until he starts losing in the 1st/2nd round consistently, lay off the he's washed up stories. He isn't going to win 15 titles, including 3 majors, in a year but isn't winning one major a year an accomplishment in itself?

My Perfect Woman

Disclaimer: Before I start, I would like to say that I am very happy with my current girlfriend and this post is just me being the typical guy I am.

As the days of summer start to roll up on me, I am starting to really think about golf. The time spent on the course hitting a ball and walking and then hitting it again sounds like a real bore to some, including my girlfriend. But there is more to the game of golf than just hitting a tiny little white dimpled ball.

Most people who have moved on from high school and through university can now appreciate the sparse time that is available to spend with friends doing things you use to take for granted. I still remember those days when I could just skip my afternoon university class and hit the course with my buddies and have no repercussions. Now, finding time to hit the links is almost impossible and when there is time it costs me an arm and leg with weekend and holiday rates.

I'm kind of moving a little off topic so let us move the main event. As I am sure you have put two and two together, the title and picture, and figured out where I want to go with this post.

Her name, Maria Verchenova. She is from Moscow, Russia.

She is gorgeous.

She is a golfer.

She's Russian.

She's a brunette.

What else can I ask for in a woman. When I came across this girl I was honestly left speechless. So far in my life, I have not come across one decent looking female golfer. I am not talking about the LPGA, I am talking about normal people who I will have a remote chance with. For all the years I have hit the course, I have yet to see someone who I would say is attractive. Yes, you don't usually see too many people when playing golf since you stick with your foursome but still, not one remotely attractive woman. What gives?!?!

Walking along the fairway with a cigar and talking with Maria sounds like a life I would like to live. Anyways, I'll stop my day dreaming and get back to work.

I'm Alive

I am alive and back at the helms of this blog.

After a nice vacation in the Land Down Under, where I didn't bother using the internet and checking up on things except for the odd peep at the NHL/NBA Playoffs and a few scores in MLB, I feel great!!! It was nice to leave behind all the technology and kind of go back to an "old fashioned" life. Honestly, I didn't really miss using my computer and staying in the loop of everything that happens in sports. Anyways, on to something more interesting for you readers.

You see that guy with the Jays logo on his chest? Well, I'm disgusted by him. Every time I look at him it makes me sick. Every fifth day he walks onto the mound and basically does his thing, I just hurl at the thought of him.

For all of you who know me, I love this guy. So let me explain all the above. I'm disgusted by him because he's just too good. It just isn't fair that someone is that good at something and everyone who steps into the batters box has almost no chance of succeeding. Every time I look at him I just think, how come I couldn't have 1% of his skill so I could have had a chance to move past my university baseball career. Guy is just gold! Finally, the hurling comment. Well, it was said for more effect than anything else.

Anyone watch the Yankees visit the Skydome (aka Roy's Home, Halladay Inn, etc.)? Some dude who jumped ship, AJ Burnett, was back on the mound and he was throwing against Halladay. For those of you who thought it was just another game you were wrong. We all know the Jays wanted to kick the shit out of AJ for taking the money and leaving in the offseason.

I am absolutely speechless at this moment. Roy is just too good. He reminds me of little leagues where there is always one kid who strikes out 15 guys a game because he's just too good. Halladay is in a league all of his own right now and describing this situation as "he's in the zone" doesn't do justice.
