A mistake is not a mistake unless you don't learn from them. Both are prime examples of what the Yankees are doing. Spending money is trying to win, actually they are putting in all their chips. They learned from signing anyone and everyone (Giambi, Pavano, and Wright). Instead, they signed the likes of Sabathia, AJ (kind of decent), and Texeira.

The Yanks spend the most money and they get themselves into the playoffs which gives them a shot at the World Series. Looking back on those years with the Leafs I can't give you specifics but I do remember having good reasons for thinking the Leafs weren't going to take the cup. What I do remember from back then is how they didn't match up, in my eyes, to the other teams.

Everyone has a chance at taking the championship in any sport, just look at the 2008 Rays.

The NBA is one of the only sports that is almost impossible to officiate. There is a very fine line between a foul and a clean play. Basketball is a game where there is plenty of contact, intentional and unintentional, and that is what makes the job of an NBA ref that hardest out of all the sports. On the Fence Sportsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-200432187664455473.post-19663614933888099752009-06-13T19:09:27.214-04:002009-06-13T19:09:27.214-04:00serious, going from one loser to another. that ha...serious, going from one loser to another. that has to hurt!!!On The Fence Sportsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-200432187664455473.post-11359024165068505542009-06-13T01:14:07.003-04:002009-06-13T01:14:07.003-04:00Poor fucking Hossa. I've...wow, love the sarcasm from you eyebleaf.

I've had this argument with one of my friends about how competitive the Leafs have been in the past 10 or so years. My opinion, most of those years the Leafs didn't have a true chance at the cup, even though they had successful winning years. How is it possible that a team can be successful but not have a chance at the Cup? Well, the teams were built to be a top 10 team. Not a top 3 team.

About your NBA comment, well chalk that up to some sarcasm as mentioned above. Are you really denying the intensity and fierce battle between the Raps and the Celtics earlier this year and chalking it up to douchbaggery? As I said before, that should have been a technical and it shouldn't have happened but he was into the game and wanted it so badly.

I do agree with you about the technicals and how they were dealt with this year. Pretty lame on how they take them back after the game.On The Fence Sportshttp://onthefencesports.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-200432187664455473.post-37549615160023195492009-06-10T10:43:29.877-04:002009-06-10T10:43:29.877-04:00From 1998 onwards until the lockout, the Leafs wer...From 1998 onwards until the lockout, the Leafs were one of the more competitive teams in the league. They played as many playoff games as the Detroits and Colorados of the NHL.

It's all cyclical. Sure, it's fun to watch the Pens now, but in the early part of the decade they drafted in the top 5 five years in a row (Whitney 5th overall, Crosby 1st overall, Malkin 2nd overall, Fleury 1st overall, and Staal 2nd overall). They unapologetically tanked.

KG taunting Calderon was a fierce battle? Seriously? Or was it just more of KG's rampant douchebaggery?

Gotta love the NBA playoffs, where everything is a foul, where technicals are rescinded after the game, and where the last minute and a half of regulation time takes about half an hour to complete. Very intense and exciting.Navin Vaswani (@eyebleaf)https://www.blogger.com/profile/08445618400360263938noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-200432187664455473.post-45273960849679607792009-05-24T07:18:45.295-04:002009-05-24T07:18:45.295-04:00There is absolutely nothing better than sitting an...There is absolutely nothing better than sitting and watching a NBA game right now.On The Fence Sportshttp://onthefencesports.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-200432187664455473.post-91783137786403563512009-05-23T10:50:25.948-04:002009-05-23T10:50:25.948-04:00Yes.
