Raps

Quickly take a look at the NBA Eastern Conference standings. The Raptors are sitting in the 5th position right behind the Celtics...wait. Yup, the All-Star break has come and the Celtics have hit a slide that has seen their lead over the Raps fall from double digits to only 4 games!

I had a friend ask me a few days ago if the Raps could win the Atlantic division for the second time in franchise history and I replied with, "no!" Seriously, do you honestly think the Raps can take the Atlantic division from the Celtics? With the depth they have the Raps would have to go on a pretty big binge of wins to over take the Celtics.

Injuries will be the wild card. KG and Allen are both on the older side and with trade talks starting to swirl around the NBA, Allen might not even be wearing the green and white when the trade deadline comes and goes.

The Raps will bring Toronto the playoff atmosphere that is badly needed but a chance at the Atlantic conference, I don't think so.

Come Together

Can you believe that Wade and James will be free agents after this season. It is incredible how time flies when it comes to contracts and superstars that reside in the NBA.

Remember a few years back when the Celtics were a pathetic team and all of a sudden KG and Ray Allen appeared beside Pierce. That trio seemed to have worked out. All three players are great but we all know and will agree that they are not in the prime of their respective careers. That isn't saying they aren't great players, just not what they were at their peak.

People around the sports worlds have talked about uniting another "big three" somewhere else in the NBA especially with the free agents searching for some love after 2010. There are plenty of combination's that could change the landscape and power of the NBA but what interests me the most is a James/Wade union. What if these two guys got together in the off-season and came to an agreement to join forces and take the NBA trophy like the Celtics did in the 60's (actually, starting from 1957 to 1969, the Celtics won 11 championships).

Let's push this a little further. What if James/Wade persuaded a third big time free agent to join the team, say Bosh or Stoudamire. Wow, wouldn't that be absolutely insane to see these three guys, who are in their primes, come together and play on a nightly basis?

If these guys are telling the truth about only wanting to win and secure as many Larry O'Brien trophy's as they can, they would take the pay cut and come together and dominate the NBA. What they lose in salary they will easily make it up in endorsements.

To the reader, it may seem that I am dying for this to happen, I'm not going to lie it would be nice to see this happen, but what would happen to the NBA. Think about what would happen to the markets in Cleveland, Miami, and my hometown Toronto if these players all left and signed with a new team. All three cities were just starting to rebuild through these players and would have nothing if they leave.

Making the NBA a less competitive and even more predictable league is not something I would enjoy on a nightly basis. Yes, it would be nice to see the guys dominate the league for a year but taking 6 championships in a row kind of destroys the game of basketball and the enjoyment it gives me everyday.

Wouldn't it be nice for big time NBA players to turn down a max contract and go for what they, as kids, dreamed of doing every time they touched the hardwood, to win the Larry O'Brien trophy.

Onions, Onions, Onions

The Celtics need this kind of play badly without KG on the court. I can't believe Allen continues to hit 3's like he's standing two feet from the bucket.

Cry Me a River

Glen "Big Baby" Davis of the Celtics was seen crying on the bench after KG ripped him a new A-hole during a huddle. Guys like KG need to slow their minds down a little to clearly think about their actions. Yes, the Celtics were destroying the Blazers and slowly lost their lead when the subs came in but KG had no right to drag Davis into the huddle and say the things he said. I am not 100% sure on what he said but for some reason I think it went like this, "What the FUCK are you doing? I worked my fucking ass off and built this lead so you idiots could have a few minutes on the court and this is how you repay me?!?! Screw you guys!" I think I went a little overboard but you get the point.

KG, relax, there is a reason why they are subs and not NBA superstars. The first video is of Glen "Big Baby" Davis crying. The second video of KG explaining himself after the game.

Big Baby himself.

Here is video #2, KG's explanation.

I like the fire in KG's belly but as a teammate I would eventually get a little tired of it. There are times when it is needed but then there are times when he should just shut his mouth.

KG is Finally Suspended

The NBA is basically a joke when it comes to their superstars and the way they can act on the court. Prime example is KG. After going over the top with taunting Jose Calderon, KG was once again up to his old tricks but this time with Andrew Bogut of the Bucks.

As you can see the "slap" is kind of weak but of course the refs saw this and gave both Bogut and KG T's in the game. The league also handed down a 1 game suspension to KG for this incident.

Come on guys, you give him a 1 game suspension for this but not for the Calderon incident? That is absolutely ridiculous.

Wake up and start punish your NBA stars when they do something against the rules.

KG & Calderon sitting in a tree...

More to come...

UPDATE: Well, what do you think about what KG did to Calderon?

There is no doubt that KG deserved a Technical and also maybe a fine from the league because this isn't the first time KG does his "let's try and show up the opponent" thing. Seriously, where the hell were the refs when this was happening? There is absolutely no excuse for the refs missing this. The play had Calderon bringing up the ball with KG defending him. It wasn't behind a screen or off the ball, it was one on one with everyone in the entire arena watching.

So...where the hell were you refs?

Seriously, just because KG is a "The Big Ticket" and an NBA superstar it doesn't mean he is allowed to taunt and do whatever he wants to on the court. The NBA has to draw a line when it comes to "protecting" it's superstars.

But, I see something else from this stupid stunt by KG as well. Just look at the intensity between KG and Calderon. The level of competitiveness, the level of pure emotions, and all in the NBA Finals! Oh wait, this wasn't the NBA Finals, it was just another regular season game. Oh wait, it wasn't even in the stretch run, it's only the 5th or so game of the REGULAR season.

This is what I like to see. Sports is filled with trash talk and for all of us who play sports we know that trash talk with never ever be eliminated.

It is apart of sports. It will never go away. Live with it!

In the end, KG should have been given a Tech and big props go out to Calderon for letting KG know he wasn't backing down after dishing it off for some points.
