Federer 2010

Roger will be rocking in the above shoes for the 2010 season. Simple and clean, this pair seems to fit Federer to a T with the baby blue and the RF logo on the back. Been looking through tennis shoes lately and really enjoying the simple concepts they produce. Haven't seen too many pairs in the stores that I would personally grab but have mentioned it to a few owners who will hopefully be stocking the shelves with upcoming tennis models.

4 to 5

So, Kobe Bryant and Nike have just introduced the Kobe V's. Hmmm...wait. Didn't they just introduce the Kobe IVs? Is it me or is it people just keeping coming out with shoes/shirts/jerseys just for the sake of making more and more money? I know this is capitalism at it's finest but coming out with a new product every month (exaggeration) is a little much.

Also, what is the deal with low's these days? The reason, in my opinion, recreational ballers out there shouldn't buy these shoes and play in them is simple, we do not tape our ankles when we play. Kobe and all the other NBA players out there can use low's because their ankles are already taped to the extreme. They honestly don't need any more support with a high top shoe. On the other hand, recreational players need the extra support from high tops because they don't have the benefit of a trainer taping their ankles up before hitting the court.

Nice shoe but for playing ball as an average Joe, this might not be the greatest shoe out there. Go out and buy a high top and keep those ankles injury free.

Shoes

Simple shoe with a simple colour scheme. Nike Air Max 90's is a pair I would love to add to my closet. Would be nice to see a littler more yellow on the shoe. Maybe the swoosh?

Chocolate Lacoste shoes. Not a huge fan of high-tops or mids but this shoe seems to grab my attention.

Pump It

Haven't posted in the shoes department in a while and the reason was nothing really came around that caught my eye. The above pair of shoes from Reebok is the Yukatin Special Edition Pumps. A nice pair of shoes with TWO pumps. The only beef I have with this pair of shoes is the baby blue. The baby blue kills the shoe and takes the eye away from the nice chocolate coloured scheme. If the designers used a dark gum colour to replace the baby blue I would definitely go out and grab a pair of these.

LBJ AF1

A pair of LeBron inspired AF1's.

Very nice combination of the red with the gum sole. I am always a fan of the gum colour sole. I'm starting to the think that the iconic brand that Jordan created might be in for some competition with LeBron. Okay, before all you Jordan faithful out there torch this blog up and rip it up, hear me out. The Jordan brand is one of my favourite, even though it costs an arm and a leg for the right to own it, and it will continue to be a brand name that will survive for decades to come. There is always a reason for my madness.

LeBron is starting to really make a name for himself on the court, especially if he can lead the Cavs to a Larry O'Brien trophy in the near future. Maybe even grab 2-5 of them in the next 7-10 years. James has this special drive to him, on and off the court, that will never stop even when it seems he has everything in the world. He wants to be the first $1,000,000,000 athlete, yup One Billion Dollars!!! With the power he posesses he has the ability to really challenge Jordan for brand superiority.

There are plenty of things that might stand in his way though. Remember when Vince Carter was playing for the Raptors when his high flying ways was making highlight reels and everyone was branding him as the next IT athlete. Well, as time progressed and reveiled, the Carter brand wasn't a classic that would last through time. The Carter shoes were nice but the VC brand just didn't live up to the hype, not due to the brand, but more due to his role on the court. If LeBron wants to make his brand iconic and be the first billion dollar athlete, he needs to be healthy just like Jordan and make sure to follow his PR representative.

I do see LeBron maintaining his King Kong size brand and growing to iconic and classic status but only time will tell if it actually happens. The battle will rage on between the current heavyweight champion, Jordan, and the up and coming LBJ.

Wonder how many Jordans or LBJ shoes I'll have in the future. Hopefully my salary can support my love of shoes.

Shoes Shoes Shoes

As readers of this blog already know, I love shoes. Every time I walk into one of my favourite shoe stores I always get this "kid in a candy store" feeling.

The guys over at Stolen Riches (734 Queen St. West in Toronto) recently posted a few pictures of them unboxing a recent shipment of shoes. I would love to be there when an unboxing happens because when I go home after grabbing a new pair of kicks there is that feeling of opening a window and looking in to a new world.

Take a look. Make sure to drop by Stolen Riches and check out their stuff. This is one of the places I try to visit on a regular basis even though I haven't been able to drop by due to my busy schedule.

What is up with the strap going across the laces? I bet it gives more support but it just looks out of place. I like the white mesh, plain and simple but something I would definitely not purchase.

Humans R Kind

As the world continues to wage war on each other, a simple and passion of mine is taken for granted by billions in this world. This item is the shoes you wear every single day. Some of us, which includes me, are guilty of owning more shoes than we can store in our own homes while some in this world can't even afford to buy a single pair. This is where a coach, Ron Hunter, in the NCAA coached a game without wearing a pair of shoes.

The organization behind all of this is Samaritan's Feet and if you have a few minutes please head over and see what this organization is all about and how you or someone you know could help this cause.

I can't believe that people in this world are battling each other and killing each other for oil and land while someone is walking barefoot because they can not afford a pair of shoes.

Where are our priorities?

Kobe Infomercial

I have no idea why I find this entertaining but I some how do.

AF1 Supreme

For those of you shoe nuts out there, which includes me, Nike is about to release a pair of AF1's (Air Force Ones) in about a week in HK and Shanghai. Man, there are times when I wish I had the money to spend on more shoes but it seems the more shoes I buy the more shoes I want.

The colours go with the time of year, Chinese New Year, which is on Jan. 26 of 2009.

It seems the cycle will never end especially when I constantly browse the web for the latest releases.
